who can join?
Membership of the FSLA is open to all qualified lawyers (including barristers, solicitors and foreign qualified lawyers), all trainee solicitors, all pupil barristers, all students (of law or any other discipline) and anyone else who works in or is otherwise interested in the financial services industry.
what are the benefits of membership?
Please see our separate page on membership benefits.
what types of membership are there?
There are two types of ordinary membership:
- corporate membership - this is for organisations that want a number of individuals (usually five or more) to benefit from participation in FSLA. Each individual registers on the website separately, and is a voting member, but their membership is tied to their organisation. If an individual moves to a different organisation, their membership lapses and they will need to rejoin (either via their new organisation or individual membership)
- individual membership - this is for anyone, and may be of interest to smaller organisations, sole practitioners or students. Membership is tied to the individual rather than their organisation.
In addition the association rules provide for a category of honorary membership. Honorary members are members of the association's Advisory Board.
what are the membership fees?
Membership fees are set annually to take effect from 1 July. Individual and corporate membership lasts one year. Membership for people signing up via a corporate membership lasts until the end of that corporate membership plan.
