Financial Services law generally relates to the regulation of finance professionals such as bankers, independent financial advisers or fund managers.
In this respect in the UK it is directly related to the regulatory role of the Financial Services Authority. The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (and related secondary legislation including the Financial Services Authority's Handbook of Rules and Guidance) sets the legislative framework within which most UK financial services lawyers operate.
